Let’s go dive the Great Lakes! Calvin and Mike were invited by NOAA to come up last year and they said it was one of the greatest dive trips they have ever been on. They are chomping at the bit to get back!
So, we decided to offer this trip to everyone. So far it looks like a lot of Foothill Diver club members are interested, but everyone is invited to come with us!
Each person can decide if they are driving or flying to Alpena. Today (Jan 11, 2012) the cost of plane tickets from CLT to APN on Delta are $486 round trip.
We have not been told which wrecks we will be diving yet, but they are going to be in recreational limits to the most part (no more than 145). There will be 2 dives each day.
For those flying, we are trying to work out getting a tour of Thunder Bay’s headquarters. We will have more details on that later for anyone interested.
We have rooms at he Holiday Inn in Alpena, MI reserved for $98 plus tax. If you want to make your own lodging arrangements, please let us know so we can start canceling rooms.
The dives are $135 per diver per day. It is definitely drysuit type diving with bottom temps around 37 degrees. We also recommend you have a regulator that can handle the cold conditions.
